Michael Shawn "Clown" Crahan born on (September 24, 1969), is a percussionist in the American metal band Slipknot. According to Slipknot, he was one of the first band members to wear a mask (he had an old clown mask).
Because Shawn has a background in welding, his drum set, which he made himself, is made of titanium.
He is also one of the co-founders of Slipknot with Paul Gray and Anders Colsefini. Shawn does most of the interviews and ran www.slipknot1.com. In 2003 Shawn changed his mask along with
the rest of the band. Shawn is also the oldest member of Slipknot.
Shawn was an executive producer for the Mudvayne CD L.D. 50 and has made a brief appearance in the American Head Charge video, Just So You Know'. He has also remixed one of their tracks for the Just So You Know
Crahan says he had a happy youth. His parents financed Slipknot in the early days and he professes
nothing but the utmost respect for them. In the early '90s, he had a drinking problem, exacerbated when he bought a Des Moines
bar. Frustrated by the lack of success, he says he would have killed himself if he hadn't met his wife Chantal. "My saviour,
my hero," he says. "She saved my life." - Q Magazine.
Shawn also is the founder of Big Orange Clown Records, an imprint of Sanctuary Records, and signed
mallcore/metalcore act, *Gizmachi.
Creating Clown's Subliminal Mask
Purchase any clown mask. Cut out all the hair. You may also need to cut out hole for your lips if needed.
Next, grab a lighter and slightly melt the nose to give it a beat up look. Second, adjust the mask to fit your head if needed.
Third, fill in around the eyes and the mouth with black and red spray paint. Also, you may spray paint the head red. When
dry, wrap the mask with bandages or something similar. Now, add blood around the eyes, the mouth, and anywhere where you would
like preferably using a red sharpie. There you go!
